The ELA standards and technology matrix for kindergarten is fairly simple to understand since it's their introduction to certain technologies. The standards are that as the children are guided by adults/staff, they are able to play around and get comfortable with different sorts of devices. This allows the child to learn how to write for other people to read, and especially to learn how to collaborate with other students. The technology that they will begin to learn how to use the smartboard effectively, as well as different online websites and resources to help them learn how to read.
For the kindergarten tool kit in the english language arts section, there are many different resources available for educators. One of the really cool resources is the lesson plans that can be used throughout different parts of the year for the students. The lesson plan that I believe would truly resonate with the children ages five and six is "The Best Pet" lesson plan. The students would enjoy this because it makes learning more fun because they get to talk about pets as well as listening and reading.
Internet searching is a software program that searches a database and provides information on that specific search that is available on the internet. This is important because it is helpful as a teacher so you can properly look up the information that you may need for your students/the class. Advanced search is an important searching skill that I knew about, but got to learn more about this week. It is important to know how to do an advanced search simply because it helps one more easily find exactly what they have been looking for.
Hi SC! I like your explanation of the ELA standards, it is very thorough and easy to read. The lesson plan you chose for the CPALMS section seems very interesting and I can definitely see kids resonating with it. I also will be implementing the "advanced search" tool in my future research. It seems like it will be really helpful at filtering out unwanted results.
